Help Harvest Fresh Fruit for Food Bank on Tuesday October 1st

Thanks to countless volunteers, we pick as many apples as possible each fall for clients of the Food Banks in the Netherlands. After all, fresh fruit is an important but scarce component of the food packages. This year, we’re aiming for 200,000 kilos of apples and pears, made possible by the generosity of the growers.

First and foremost, more than 40,000 households have been provided with fresh apples through the Food Banks. Last year, we were able to give them a kilo of apples per week for five weeks. But the growers benefit from the harvest as well.

Leaving fruit on the trees isn’t an option, as a bare tree saves energy for the following growth season. The voluntary efforts of our picking teams mean that growers don’t incur labor costs. In addition, the growers receive a fiscally beneficial donation declaration for the fruit they donate.

Schedule for October 1st:

• 8:30: Meet at Bingoal Stadium, Haags Kwartier 55 (free parking)
• 9:00: Departure
• 10:00: Apple picking
• 13:30: Lunch (provided)
• 14:00: Continue picking
• 15:30: Departure
• 16:30: Arrival
