Summary
IDUM is seeking a dedicated and skilled Newsletter Editor to join our dynamic and diverse team.Detailed description
The Newsletter Editor will play a pivotal role in creating engaging and informative content related to underwater munitions management. In addition to content creation, the editor will be responsible for securing advertising funding to support the newsletter's production and distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation:
- Research, write, edit, and curate content for the organization's newsletters, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
- Develop articles, features, and news updates on topics related to underwater munitions management, environmental impacts, safety protocols, and international regulations.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, scientists, and advocates to ensure the accuracy and depth of content.
- Utilize multimedia elements (photos, videos, infographics) to enhance the visual appeal and engagement of the newsletter.
- Advertising Funding:
- Identify potential advertising partners, sponsors, and stakeholders interested in supporting our mission and reaching our audience.
- Develop and execute advertising strategies to generate revenue through newsletter advertising and sponsorship opportunities.
- Establish and maintain relationships with advertisers and partners, ensuring their needs are met, and they receive the value they seek from their engagement with IDUM.
- Newsletter Management:
- Coordinate the production schedule, ensuring timely delivery of newsletters to our subscribers.
- Manage the distribution process, including email campaigns and print versions (if applicable).
- Monitor and analyze newsletter engagement metrics, seeking opportunities for improvement and growth.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to integrate newsletter content with broader communication and advocacy strategies.
- Work closely with graphic designers and layout professionals to create visually appealing and accessible newsletters.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in journalism, communications, environmental science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in content creation, editing, or journalism.
- Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to convey complex topics to a general audience.
- Experience in advertising sales and revenue generation is a plus.
- Knowledge of underwater munitions management or environmental conservation is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using email marketing software, content management systems, and digital analytics tools.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with advertisers and stakeholders.

As a nonprofit organisation, we rely on the dedication and support of volunteers to further our mission.
Our mission is to promote the creation of an Internationally Binding Treaty on all classes (biological, chemical, conventional, and radiological) of underwater munitions, to lead to the cleanup of our seas and oceans worldwide.
Our goals:
- Creation of a Global Treaty on all underwater weapons.
- Development of a Global Database of underwater weapons sites.
- Being a repository of information for underwater weapons.
- Eradication of the "Point-Source Emitters of Pollution" from our seas and oceans.
