The Salvation Army is looking for people who want to offer support to people who have experienced domestic violence. A disruptive experience that leaves deep marks. Even when it is safe again, it can take a long time before someone dares to fully participate in society again.
This buddy project is especially for them.
We are looking for people who want to help as a buddy to break the isolation and help build self-confidence and future perspective. It is about being a friend, doing fun things together and offering a listening ear. Where necessary, you offer practical help and support and help your buddy cross the threshold by, for example, going along to the library or a community center.
Are you:
- 21 years of age or older?
- Available for at least one year for about 8 hours a month?
- Someone who is not easily put off?
- Socially adept and patient?
- Someone with a big heart for vulnerable people?
- Creative in finding solutions?
- Realistic and reliable?
Then we would love to meet you!
As a volunteer you will receive training and personal guidance. There are also four intervision meetings per year where you meet your fellow volunteers and exchange experiences.
