Summary
We teach children and adults with disabilities to travel independently. Think of: going to school, to the gym, to an internship, etc.Detailed description
Where will you work?
MEE Foundation is an organization that is committed to people with disabilities (intellectual disability, autism, Non Congenital Brain Injury and physical disability).
MEE Op Weg is a training course from the age of 12 for people with disabilities who want to learn to travel independently by public transport or bicycle. MEE Op Weg's vision is that people with disabilities should be able to participate in society as independently as possible. Part of that is, of course, independent travel.
Who are you / what are we looking for?
Someone who likes to tackle and takes initiative. The trainer is responsible, in consultation with parents/partner, for planning the training sessions and for reporting the hours. It is nice if the trainer already has experience with the target group. It is important to be able to make a good connection with the person for whom the training is for. Emphasizing the things that are going well is very important.
Period and working hours
A training lasts a maximum of 24 hours (average 8 training sessions, introduction, advice, reports).
If you help a child who goes to school, the working hours will mainly be in the morning (before school) and after school.
If you help an adult travel independently, the working hours are flexible.
Are you the one who wants to 'help'? Then sign up via this site!
What do you get in return?
- you help someone with their self-reliance and independence
- someone is forever grateful to you
- social contact
- your travel costs, if you incur them, will be reimbursed

About MEE op Weg
Independent travel is important
It is our mission to ensure that people with disabilities can participate in our society. Being able to travel independently is important. It gives more freedom and therefore also possibilities for spontaneous actions. Like deciding in the evening to go to the movies with your friends. MEE wants to think in terms of opportunities and possibilities, instead of limitations. With the creative solutions and support of MEE op Weg, the participants achieve a valuable result.
