Summary
The Laakkwartier telephone circle started on March 10, 1980. After two years of corona and additional lockdowns, we can finally celebrate this anniversaryDetailed description
On March 10, 1980, a telephone circle for the elderly ran for the first time in Laakkwartier. There have been changes over the course of 40 years, such as relocations, the advent of the mobile phone, etc., but the basic principle has stood the test of time surprisingly well and is still proving its worth.
Every morning at 9:00 AM, two volunteers are ready to call the participants. They are divided into circles – groups of a maximum of 6 people – and a group that is called separately. First, number 1 of each circle is called. Number 1 calls number 2 and so on, until the last participant unsubscribes his or her circle from the volunteers. In the meantime, they contact the people who are called separately. When all participants have literally made their voices heard, the volunteers are ready. On Sunday, participants are called separately.

Objective:
Being present with attention: alert, knowledgeable and involved. In doing so, we focus on people who are or are at risk of being left out and offer support that enables them, where possible, to develop further and take control.
