Written by

As the City of Peace and Justice prepares to host the 2025 NATO Summit, a unique opportunity is unfolding for all who live in and love The Hague. From June 12 to 26, the Just Peace Festival invites you to step into a vibrant city-wide celebration of dialogue, creativity, and community-driven action. For our international community, whether you’ve been here for years or just arrived, this is a moment to get involved, get inspired, and help shape the future of peace.

At Volunteer The Hague, we believe that active, engaged, compassionate citizens build true peace from the ground up. Our mission is to connect internationals with meaningful volunteering opportunities in The Hague. The Just Peace Festival is a perfect reflection of that goal: it’s an open platform where locals and internationals can contribute their voices, skills, and energy toward a better world.

Whether you're passionate about social justice, environmental resilience, diversity, or human rights, the festival provides a welcoming space to connect your values with action.

Over two weeks, The Hague will be buzzing with activities designed to inspire connection and collective impact:

  • Film Screenings & Movie Nights with partners like The Hague Public Library, Flora Filmtheater, Cordaid, and III Europe
  • Art Installations & Exhibitions, including “The Freedom That I Breathe” by NGO DEI
  • Just Peace Dialogues, thought-provoking discussions on topics from democracy to cyber resilience
  • Live Music, Dance & Performances, celebrating unity through culture
  • Workshops, Lectures & Interactive Sessions to explore new models of peacebuilding

This year’s festival revolves around six compelling themes:

  • Peace & Justice
  • Democracy
  • Inclusion, (In)Equality & Diversity
  • Climate & Resilience
  • International Rule of Law
  • (Cyber)Resilience

These themes are not just policy talking points, they are calls to engage on a human level across borders and backgrounds.

Are you looking for ways to connect more deeply with your community? Do you want to make a difference while meeting people who share your values? The Just Peace Festival is not just for experts or policymakers. It's for you.

You don’t have to be a diplomat to build peace. You can:

  • Volunteer for a partner organisation
  • Join a dialogue or workshop
  • Share your story, culture, or artistic expression
  • Learn about grassroots movements driving change globally

And if you’re not sure where to begin, Volunteer The Hague is here to guide you.

The Just Peace Festival 2025 is a unique opportunity to:

  • Reflect on pressing global issues
  • Share your voice, creativity, and skills
  • Be part of a collective movement for peace and justice

This isn’t just an event, it’s a reminder that everyone has a role to play in building a better world, including you.
