About Stichting Aight

The Aight Foundation

The Aight Foundation is committed to the development of hip-hop culture in The Hague and the surrounding area, nationally and internationally. The focus is on dance (breakdance) and rap. The foundation manages the The Hague Hip Hop Centre (H3C) and produces appealing artists (or athletes), such as India Sardjoe, world champion and fourth at the Olympic Games, and rapper Vinny. In addition to an educational program in the aforementioned areas, Aight also carries out projects, such as performances by the Heavy Hitters at the Parade and a stage featuring rap and breakdance at the Liberation Festival. Aight has been transformed and restructured organizationally in recent years. A business and artistic director ensure the preservation and growth of both artistic content and continuity in business operations. This creates an organizationally and financially healthy organization that is prepared for the future. The first major challenges are the policy plan towards the Arts Plan 2028 and shaping involvement in the Social Service Obligation.

The Board

The Board consists of four members, with one member overseeing the finances and another managing the personnel portfolio. The roles of chair and secretary are less sharply defined and can also be taken over by mutual consent.

Duties and responsibilities

As Chair of the Board of the Aight Foundation, you safeguard the strategic direction and objectives of the foundation.  You oversee good governance, the leadership, and the organization of Aight. During the annual cycle, together with the other board members, you ensure that the leadership is accountable for the realization of the program and its financial effects, and you also safeguard the continuity of operations. In doing so, you discuss risks and look to the future. As Chair, you preside over the board meetings. Together with the other board members, you draw up the agenda and monitor the decision-making process. You ensure that the board operates collectively as a team and maintain a good working relationship with the business and artistic director. You also oversee external relations, particularly with the Municipality of The Hague, and the public image of the foundation. In this regard, the leadership, as well as other board members, may step forward. The chairperson does not act as a figurehead, but ensures that a representative is available to manage relationships and public perception. The Aight Foundation has a governance model in which the tasks and responsibilities of the board, business manager, and artistic director are described. Who are we looking for? 198, 198);">
