Stichting Eekta
About Stichting Eekta
Eekta is an urban organization and has, since its inception, made an active contribution to the participation, social emancipation and integration of the Surinamese community in The Hague's multicultural society. The foundation does this, among other things, by holding consultation hours, carrying out socio-cultural activities, organizing courses such as administration support, information afternoons, exercise, walking, yoga, singing, dance and music and digital skills training. She now fulfills this role by much more emphatically seeking meetings and dialogues, establishing connections between citizens. Given her experience in working with the Surinamese target group, specific knowledge, a network and great fame have been built up in the Netherlands. This has contributed to Eekta becoming more of a Social & Cultural dialogue centre.
Eekta is visited by residents of The Hague with various backgrounds, general and volunteer organizations. These in turn are inspired to jointly set up and carry out activities with Eekta that are aimed at social tasks and the specific approach to Surinamese elderly people.
Partly because of its recognisability and specific positioning, Eekta is often approached for collaboration by the municipal welfare/care department, various social institutions and other (neighborhood) organizations with questions for advice and to take a seat in organizations or working groups.
Eekta is located at Boylestraat 20, 2563 EK The Hague in the Segbroek district. It operates its activities here, where the office is also located.
