Detailed description
Will you be our Friday dishwashing hero?
Contribute to warmth, coziness and connection at the Eekta Foundation!
At the Eekta Foundation, we believe in the power of coming together. People who are well off and those struggling can mean a lot to each other. Meeting, connecting, and supporting each other are our core values—and a shared meal is often the beginning of something beautiful.
To continue making our Come Together Eat Together meals possible, we are looking for a committed dishwashing hero who wants to help us every Friday afternoon.
What are you going to do?
After the meal, you ensure that everything is fresh and tidy again:
- You help with washing dishes, pans and kitchen utensils
- You and the team leave the kitchen clean and tidy
- You are part of an enthusiastic and warm volunteer team
What do we offer you?
- A friendly, committed group of volunteers
- A warm and open atmosphere where meeting is central
- An inspiring place where your efforts really make a difference
Who are you?
- You like to roll up your sleeves
- You work neatly and like a clean kitchen
- You have a kind word and an eye for the people around you
- You are available on Friday from approximately 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Would you like to contribute to these valuable encounters and together make a difference for others?
About Stichting Eekta
Eekta is a municipal organization that, since its inception, has actively contributed to the participation, social emancipation, and integration of the Surinamese community in The Hague's multicultural society. The foundation achieves this by holding consultation hours, conducting socio-cultural activities, organizing courses such as administrative support, information afternoons, exercise, walking, yoga, singing, dance, and music, and digital skills training.
Now, it fulfills this role by more explicitly seeking out encounters and dialogues, building connections between citizens. Given its experience working with the Surinamese target group, it has built specific knowledge, a network, and a high profile in the Netherlands. This has contributed to Eekta's increasingly distinctive character as a Social and Cultural Dialogue Center.
Eekta is visited by residents of The Hague from diverse backgrounds, as well as by non-profit and volunteer organizations. These organizations, in turn, are inspired to collaborate with Eekta to develop and implement activities focused on social tasks and the specific approach to Surinamese seniors.
Partly because of its recognizability and specific positioning, Eekta is often approached for collaboration by the municipal welfare/healthcare department, various social institutions, and other (neighborhood) organizations with requests for advice and to participate in organizations or working groups.
Eekta is located at Boylestraat 20, 2563 EK The Hague, in the Segbroek district. It operates its activities there, where its office is also located.
