About Viable Community

Viable Community is a European non-profit focused on community-led projects that protect and regenerate nature. We work on initiatives that combine sustainability, community ownership, and new technologies to support real-world environmental solutions.

As our volunteer network grows, we want to make our knowledge and resources easier to access for everyone involved.

The Project

We are building an internal AI assistant for our organization.

The goal is to create a simple “organizational brain” that helps volunteers:

• find documents and information quickly

• understand processes and onboarding

• summarize meetings and documents

• navigate projects and opportunities within the community

The assistant should connect knowledge from tools such as:

• Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, etc.)

• Slack

• ClickUp

• Loom recordings

• website content

We want to start with a simple, practical MVP and improve it over time.

What You Will Do

• Explore AI capabilities in our existing tools (Google Workspace/Gemini, Slack, ClickUp)

• Map where our organizational knowledge currently lives

• Help design a simple AI knowledge system

• Connect documents and resources into a searchable assistant

• Build or integrate a simple chatbot interface (for example in Slack or our volunteer dashboard)

• Help the team adopt and use the assistant

Your First Mission (First 2–3 Weeks)

Your first goal will be to build a simple prototype of our internal AI assistant.

This will likely include:

• testing how well Google Gemini can answer questions about our Drive documents

• mapping where knowledge currently lives (Drive, Slack, ClickUp)

• experimenting with a simple assistant interface (for example in Slack)

The goal is not to build a perfect system immediately, but to create a working first prototype that the team can start using and improving.

What We Are Looking For

Someone who is:

• curious about AI tools and knowledge systems

• pragmatic and solution-oriented

• comfortable experimenting with APIs, automation tools, or AI platforms

• able to explain solutions clearly to non-technical team members

You don’t need to be an AI researcher. Practical experience with tools or integrations is more important.

Time Commitment

Approximately 5–10 hours per week, flexible.
