Co-founders wanted to set up a waste-free cooking initiative for local residents in The Hague. For enterprising go-getters with a love for healthy food.
BuurtBuik saves food from waste by collecting food from restaurants, supermarkets, and greengrocers and sharing it with local residents. This brings neighbors together, we lend each other a hand, and save food from the trash can.
Volunteers pick up the food and cook a free, healthy meal together. It is a creative challenge every time: after all, you never know what the day's yield will be! When the food is ready, everyone who wants to is welcome to join the table. Because besides delicious food, BuurtBuik is mainly about conviviality.
I am in the process of setting up a Buurtbuik in The Hague. The initiative already exists in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Utrecht, among others, but not yet in The Hague. I am looking for a few co-founders who want to realize this wonderful initiative in The Hague together with me.
So, not yet people who want to come and cook occasionally. I am looking for people who are eager to help build a new BuurtBuik location: creating the plan together, finding a suitable spot, establishing connections with local entrepreneurs and social organizations, approaching partners, and ultimately putting together a team that can run the location independently.
You don't need to have experience with volunteering or cooking. As long as you get energy from building something, collaborating, organizing, and creating concrete social impact. Entrepreneurship and enthusiasm are the best qualities for this.
