Make a difference in a developing country like Gambia, for example in education, as a healthcare or social worker.

Gambia offers you the unique opportunity to contribute to community development while developing personally and professionally. For example, you could teach English, organize creative activities for children, provide guidance for children with disabilities, or—something completely different—provide essential care in local hospitals. Experience Gambian culture from the inside and build unforgettable memories!

Education

You help children and young people by first observing the teacher and assisting with English lessons or other essential subjects; you organize creative or sports activities and thereby contribute to their growth and development.

Care and welfare

Collaborate with local professionals in hospitals or a dental practice.

Support children with disabilities and teach them essential skills in an international context.

This is you

  • You must be at least 18 years old upon departure, but those over 50 are also very welcome.
  • Naturally, you are in healthy physical and mental condition.
  • You are naturally patient, flexible, and reliable.
  • Naturally, you are interested in other cultures.
  • Your education(s) and/or experience align with one of the fields of study.
  • You must be willing to undergo a screening and apply for a Certificate of Conduct (VOG). Travel2Connect pays the costs of the VOG.

Invest in your own development

You pay for the costs associated with this volunteer work yourself (preparation and supervision costs, ticket, accommodation, and meals). Travel2Connect is small-scale, which allows us to keep costs down compared to many other organizations.

It benefits you greatly.

  • You contribute to interesting projects;
  • It is a great, unique experience that broadens your horizons;
  • You will meet many new people, allowing you to significantly expand your personal and professional network;
  • There is thorough preparation in the Netherlands and reliable guidance in Gambia;
  • We arrange the transfer to and from the airport for you;
  • In Gambia, you will have an interesting introductory day;
  • There is a supervisor present on the project where you are working;
  • The lodging address is your safe home base where you can find relaxation and where you can go with your questions;
  • There are various options for excursions, nightlife, and beach visits.
