Summary

Are you a mother and do you want to support starting mothers?

Detailed description

Are you a mother yourself and would you like to support a starting mother?

At Mothers Informing Mothers (MIM), which is part of the child health center in The Hague, you make monthly home visits to a mother-to-be or mother with a child between 0 and 4 years old.

When you become a mother, sometimes a lot comes at you. Sometimes you don't know many other mothers or sometimes you don't know your way around The Hague very well: what are nice places to go with your baby?

To bring new mothers into contact with more experienced mothers, we are looking for volunteers who can offer a listening ear, help them make choices and give tips.

You encourage and support a starting mother in making her own choices regarding education up to the age of four; you strengthen her social network and/or show her around the city.

Are you a mother who pays attention to starting mothers? Are you open to other mothers, their ideas and lifestyles and are you a good listener?

Then MIM might be something for you! At the moment we are mainly looking for Dutch mothers.

In addition, we are also looking for mothers in various districts who speak Arabic, Turkish, Tigrinya, Polish, Portuguese or Russian.

Being a MIM volunteer is surprising volunteer work that gives a lot of satisfaction. You get to know special other mothers. You can get in touch with both the mothers you visit and your fellow volunteers. The mothers come from all kinds of cultures and the working atmosphere is informal. MIM offers thorough preparation, support and guidance by a MIM coordinator. There are also regular refresher courses and meetings for relaxation. As a volunteer you have a lot of say. You can decide for yourself when you work, how many mothers you want to support and who you are linked to. They also try to link you to a mother who lives close by.

Your children are of course welcome during the support activities as well as during the supervision moments.

There is also an expense allowance. Welcome!
