Join our team! Volunteer The Hague is looking for a Social Media & Community Creator.
About the Opportunity
Are you passionate about building connections and helping others find their place in a new city? If you’re a natural storyteller who loves social media and community building, we’d love to meet you.
At Volunteer The Hague, we serve as the central bridge between international residents and local organisations in the city. We believe that volunteering is the fastest way to turn a new city into a home, and we are looking for a creative, proactive Social Media Manager to help us amplify that mission.
This isn’t just a "posting" role... It’s an opportunity to shape how we communicate with thousands of internationals and local non-profits. You’ll be the voice of our digital presence, helping us highlight meaningful causes and connect people with opportunities that change lives.
What you’ll be doing
We want you to bring your creative energy to our channels. Your core focus will be helping us keep our community informed and engaged:
- Content Creation & Scheduling: You’ll be the engine behind our social channels, taking ownership of our scheduling (via Hootsuite) and ensuring our content calendar is always up to date.
- Community Engagement: When someone reaches out, they’ll hear from you. You’ll help us nurture our online community, spark conversations, and ensure our followers feel seen and supported.
- Storytelling: You’ll have the space to help us draft and share content that makes volunteering accessible, inviting, and impactful.
Why this is great for you
We know you have goals, and we want to help you reach them. Here is how this role can help you grow:
- Expand Your Portfolio: Whether you’re building a career in communications, marketing, or non-profit management, you’ll have a live, active platform to experiment with content and strategy.
- Boost Your Social Media Skills: You’ll get hands-on experience managing a professional content schedule using industry-standard tools like Hootsuite, which is a great asset for any CV.
- Grow Your Network: You’ll be at the heart of the international community in The Hague. You’ll gain visibility into how local organisations work, meet inspiring community leaders, and learn what makes a city "tick."
- Collaborative Environment: You won’t be working in a silo. You’ll be part of a supportive team that values your ideas, encourages creative experimentation, and is dedicated to making a tangible social impact.
Is this you?
You don’t need to be a corporate social media expert. We’re looking for someone who:
- Is reliable and organised (we appreciate your help in keeping our schedule running smoothly).
- Has a "people-first" mindset—you enjoy engaging with comments and messages in a warm, helpful way.
- Is keen to learn and take ownership of a project.
Interested?
If this sounds like the kind of space where you could make an impact while levelling up your own skills, we’d love to hear from you.
Please reach out to Laura Linga at [email protected] with your CV and a few words about why you’re interested, and a link to your social media or a short portfolio if you have one (not required). Let’s chat about how we can grow together!
