Summary
Courageous to ask awkward questions? If you are interested in what’s happening locally and have a good speaking voice with fluency in English, come to us!Detailed description
Candidates should have a lively curiosity, be interested and involved in what’s happening locally and have a good speaking voice. Fluent English is essential. An accent is not a problem. You will need the courage to ask an ‘awkward’ question from time to time and know when its your right to get an honest answer. There are 3 positions for this role.
What’s expected of you
As a reporter for our radio programme, you will need to contribute one recorded interview or make a live presentation in the studio once a week. The preparation for this should not exceed 3 hours a week. Our interviews are only 3 minutes long. You will need to come to the studio at least once every two weeks so that the programme producer can give you personal feedback on your contributions and show you how to improve them if necessary. This is also necessary for planning upcoming interviews and news coverage as it is the only time we meet face-to-face.
You will be trained to use a recorder, write introductions for the presenter to read and conduct interviews. You will attend an introductory workshop in which you will be shown how to conduct an interview and source local news. News needs to be fresh – Dutchbuzz does not carry old news – so anticipating events is important. We expect you to come up with your own ideas for the programme content, but you will first need to run these suggestions past the producer who has the final say. The resulting interviews will only be used if they are of broadcast quality and relevant to the international community in The Hague.
Note that you can slot in the recorded interviews in your own time. The studio attendance is from 20.00 to 22.00 on a Tuesday. DHFM broadcasts from the Omroep West building in Rijswijk.
ONE INTERVIEW A WEEK – A STUDIO SESSION EVERY TWO WEEKS – NO MORE THAN 3 HOURS A WEEK
