About Fair Tourism
Fair Tourism is a Dutch non-profit organization (est. 1989) committed to promoting sustainable, community-based tourism (CBT). We work to ensure Indigenous communities are not treated as tourist attractions, but empowered as leaders in shaping their own tourism initiatives.
We develop capacity-building programs, collaborate with universities, and currently run projects in Thailand, Indonesia, and Kenya. Since 2025, we have also been a proud member of The Hague Humanity Hub.

Partnership and Fundraising Director (Volunteer Role)

Fair Tourism is seeking a Partnership and Fundraising Director to play a key role in building, managing, and supporting a team of dedicated professionals working to drive meaningful change in the tourism sector.
🕓 Commitment: 15 hours per week (flexible)

⭐ Key Responsibilities:
As the Partnership and Fundraising Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing Fair Tourism’s fundraising and partnership strategy. You will:
Strategic Leadership & Fundraising
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising and partnerships strategy aligned with organizational goals
- Set and monitor annual and quarterly fundraising targets and growth plans
- Identify and pursue high-value funding opportunities (grants, corporate, institutional and individual donors)
- Draft and oversee financial plans related to fundraising initiatives
- Ensure all fundraising activities align with Fair Tourism’s mission, values, and priorities
Partnership Development
- Build, manage, and grow relationships with corporate partners, donors, and key stakeholders
- Maintain open discussion of strategies and responsibilities for partnerships with Project departments.
- Develop tailored partnership proposals, sponsorship packages, and engagement strategies
- Identify innovative partnership opportunities, including cause-marketing and collaborations
- Ensure long-term partner engagement, retention, and value creation
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and support functional areas: Grants, Corporate Partnerships, Individual Giving, Institutional Funding, and Business Development
- Coordinate with the CEO to ensure department alignment with long-term organisational goals
- Set clear goals, assign tasks, and conduct regular check-ins with team members
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and motivated team environment (including volunteers)
- Provide guidance and capacity-building support to team leaders
- Sufficient availability to contribute to the team roles and team leadership
Grants & Funding Oversight
- Oversee identification of relevant grant opportunities (foundations, governments, trusts)
- Ensure high-quality grant proposal development and submission
- Maintain grant calendars, reporting timelines, and compliance standards
- Support relationship-building with grant-making bodies and institutions
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Track fundraising performance metrics and partnership outcomes
- Provide regular updates and reports to leadership and the board
- Ensure compliance with funding requirements, reporting standards, and ethical practices
- Maintain accurate records, databases, and documentation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, International Development, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in fundraising, partnerships, or business development (preferably in nonprofit/impact sector)
- Proven track record of securing funding or participation in fundraising through grants, partnerships, or donor engagement
- Strong leadership and team management experience

Preferred Experience
- Experience in sustainable tourism, social impact, or environmental organizations
- Familiarity with international funding landscapes and donor ecosystems
- Experience managing cross-functional or remote teams
- Previous experience working in nonprofit sector
