🧠 About Advocates Who Thrive
Across Europe, many people work tirelessly to advance social and environmental justice. This work is deeply meaningful but incredibly demanding. Over time, many face a heavy personal toll: losing energy, struggling to involve others, doubting themselves, or feeling entirely isolated. Far less attention often goes to supporting the actual people behind the change work: the advocates themselves.
Advocates Who Thrive is a learning & development organization dedicated to changing that. Our mission is to strengthen the resilience, confidence, and effectiveness of people who advance social and environmental justice by offering world-class coaching, group learning, and peer support. Our approach is experiential, practical, and human. We help changemakers work directly on their real-life challenges so they can stay emotionally balanced, stand strong against resistance, and communicate in ways that bring their communities along with them.
🎯 Role Overview
We are looking for a creative and hands-on Social Media Content Creator to join our team. In this role, you will create content that builds trust and visibility around our project, The Queers are Thriving, which supports BIPOC queer individuals through coaching.
You will help us reach future clients, community partners, and supporters by showing the real human impact of our work. This involves creating engaging content for our community on Instagram and TikTok, as well as potentially tailoring specific posts for professionals on LinkedIn.
📋 Key Responsibilities
- Create and organize a simple monthly content plan for The Queers are Thriving.
- Design and publish Instagram stories, carousels, and reels that offer mental wellbeing support & guidance for our target group, and that share project updates & anonymous testimonials from participants.
- Cross-post our short videos (reels) over to TikTok to help expand our reach to younger audiences.
- Potentially: write and design clear, professional posts for LinkedIn that focus on workplace wellbeing and project impact, helping us build credibility with organizations.
- Leave comments and interact with other relevant accounts on Instagram, TikTok and potentially LinkedIn to build meaningful connections.
- Keep track of which posts get the best response and share your notes with the team so we can keep improving our content throughout 2026.
🌱 Qualifications & Skills
- Practical experience making social media posts (text, graphics, or videos) for personal projects, community groups, or work.
- A genuine passion for social justice, equity, and supporting marginalized communities.
- Good writing skills and an understanding of what makes a post interesting on different platforms.
- Basic creative design skills using everyday tools like Canva, CapCut, etc.
- Comfortable using Instagram, TikTok, Google Drive, and potentially LinkedIn, and happy working independently from home.
📈 Preferred (but not required)
- Lived experience related to the communities we serve.
- Previous experience volunteering or working with a grassroots group or nonprofit.
- An interest in or experience with writing content specifically for a professional audience on LinkedIn.
💼 What We Offer
- A supportive and values-aligned team environment
- Flexibility and autonomy
- A platform to contribute to meaningful, global impact
🎁 Volunteer Perks
As a token of our appreciation for your dedication, we offer the following:
- Travel Compensation: Reimbursement for travel expenses related to events or activities conducted on behalf of AWT.
- Learning & Development: Priority access to internal coaching, training, and development opportunities — plus possible access to partner programs.
- Monthly Community Meetings: Join us for mission-focused discussions and delicious vegan snacks & drinks with fellow team members.
- Written Reference: Receive a personalized letter of recommendation to support your future professional or educational pursuits.

About Advocates Who Thrive
At Advocates Who Thrive we empower current or aspiring advocates to become more influential in their fight for social and environmental justice.
We do so by offering them training and coaching opportunities that build their confidence, capacity and competences to speak up, lobby & campaign for the environment, animal rights, human rights and inclusion.
In order to successfully address these urgent societal challenges, we need all kinds of angles and viewpoints to be on board. That’s where our main activities – the intensive, multi-day training courses that we organize – come in. Where international youth from all kinds of backgrounds come together. The training setup in combination with their passion and collective drive allows them to fully focus on the topic and on each other. As a result, participants develop themselves and each other in ways they never imagined before.
Fully in line with these values, in our organization we welcome and involve youth from all walks of life. No matter their background, religion, education, ethnicity, gender identity, or sexual orientation, everyone is welcome to join!
