People Make The Hague

The national campaign "People Make the Netherlands" is part of the National Year of Voluntary Deployment, 2021. The Municipality of The Hague, Den Haag Doet, and PEP Den Haag will therefore start the local campaign "People Make The Hague" with a volunteer appreciation breakfast on Friday, 12 March to have a mutual discussion about volunteering and how you can motivate more residents of The Hague to volunteer.

No fewer than 185,000 volunteers are active in The Hague. Thanks to volunteers, The Hague has become a city where people look after each other, their communities, and their environment. In addition, volunteering is often also a lot of fun to do! That is why we strive to put volunteers and volunteer organizations in the limelight throughout the year.

Participate and Sign Up for a Theme

Volunteers like to dedicate themselves to others and their environment. You like to work flexibly or for fixed hours a week. Volunteering is diverse and we want to appreciate that diversity even more. We do this by making videos and podcasts about volunteers and their work.

A Different Theme Each Month

April: More Social

Each month is dedicated to a different theme. During the month of April, the theme is "More Social." It is important to take extra care of each other during this time, not the least of which is because many people are staying home more often due to the COVID-19 pandemic. District and community centers can play an important role in this, as well as other volunteers and service organizations in the area.

Do you want to join?

Would you like a representative or volunteer at your organization to talk about the work you do? Then register with PEP advisor Sytske Geertsma by email at [email protected] stating your name, e-mail address, telephone number, as well as what kind of volunteer work you do and where.

People Make The Hague themes for the coming months include:

  • April: More Social
  • May: More Green
  • June: More Creative (Art and Culture)
  • July: More Caring
  • August: More Sporty
  • September: More Wise (Education)
  • October: More Colorful
  • November: More Striking
  • December: More Indispensable

People Make the Netherlands

2021 is the National Year of Volunteer Deployment! Queen Máxima presided over the opening in December, and the event was hosted by Irene Moors; the guests were all inspiring personalities.

The NOV Association wants to use the People Make the Netherlands campaign to get people enthusiastic about volunteering. The Municipality of The Hague, Den Haag Doet, Volunteer The Hague, and PEP Den Haag are excited to join this effort. We are therefore starting the local People Make The Hague campaign to call on more residents of The Hague to do volunteer work.
