About Buurtkamer de Luyk

At Neighborhood Room De Luyk, we believe that everyone has something to offer, but above all, that a strong neighborhood is built when people, residents, are willing to take responsibility for each other. Our neighborhood room is an open meeting place in the heart of the neighborhood, where people come together to connect, participate in activities, laugh, and support one another. We strive for a welcoming environment where everyone feels seen and heard, and our volunteers play a vital role in this. This requires attentive presence, adherence to agreements, and awareness of their impact on the atmosphere and safety of the space. Volunteers at De Luyk are sociable and approachable, but also reliable, reflective, and able to act independently when necessary. We value peace, rhythm, and regularity, so that visitors know what to expect and can feel safe and welcome. We are open for both short and long periods, and also for support during holidays. Volunteers contribute to a wide range of activities, such as health and emancipation projects, facility support, or sharing knowledge and advice from their own area of expertise. Whether you enjoy having conversations, providing practical support, contributing to content, or using your professional experience for the neighborhood, your contribution matters. Our building has recently been fully renovated and has a calm, well-maintained appearance. (There is no recent photo because the building is still under scaffolding.) Volunteering at Buurtkamer De Luyk suits people who want to connect with a place, are curious about others, and find it important to make a difference. People who understand that a great meeting place is created through shared effort, mutual respect, and clear agreements.

Do you recognize yourself in this way of working and thinking, and does it appeal to you to become part of it? Then we would like to invite you for an introductory meeting.

Kind regards,

Mariëlle & Jane
