Summary

Surfmantel Project is a project for informal caregivers in The Hague that facilitates indoor and surfing sessions to support vitality & sustainable employability.

Detailed description

'Ride with Care'

The Soul Surfers Foundation is a non-profit organization that has been committed to improving the quality of life of participants since 2008. She uses surfing as a means to motivate people to learn skills that will help them become more resilient, stay employed or overcome trauma.

To give the upcoming surf project, called Surfmantel Project, the vulnerable 'stoke' and personal meaning, we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who want to guide our participants in their process of growth.

Your role as a Surfmantel volunteer

As a Sufmantel volunteer you work together with the therapists and coaches to carry out twenty (surf) fit sessions. Both indoors and on the beach and in the water. Your role is to ensure that informal caregivers in The Hague are motivated and inspired to actively participate in sports and mindfulness activities. You do this by actively participating in the sessions and sharing ideas for improving the program with your team. In this way you contribute to creating the sustainable employability of the informal caregiver.

Are you the person who....

  • ...gets energy from guiding participants, both during the indoor sessions and the surf life coaching sessions on the beach and in the water?
  • ...can motivate individuals during sporting activities (indoor and outdoor)?
  • ...can collaborate with other team members to create a positive and stimulating
  • create a growth environment? Then we are looking for you!
  • NB: The indoor sessions take place in a room in The Hague on Tuesday, Thursday or Friday evening (depending on the availability of the rooms). In terms of time, the salt water sessions take place in Kijkduin, Zuiderstrand or Scheveningen in consultation with the group.

Your skills and interests are:

  • Good swimming skills.
  • Interested in learning to facilitate a surf (fit) program.
  • Affinity or personal experience with informal care or the need to learn more about this
  • to learn.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate people.
  • You have an affinity with coaching and supervising (sports) activities.
  • Surfing as a positive lifestyle sport.
  • The courage to be vulnerable or the will to learn this.

Soul Surfers Foundation offers:

  • A challenging and varied volunteer position in which you learn to work in a team in the field of physical and mental health.
  • A volunteer allowance of up to 3 hours per session at 5 euros per hour.
  • A Water Safety Training (training in April in The Hague, Bloemendaal or Texel)
  • Opportunities for personal development.
  • An inspiring accessible sporty working environment with motivated and...
  • highly educated colleagues.
  • Travel allowance based on public transport rates within The Hague
  • (but you can also come by bike!).
  • Lots of love from the team.
