Theater Dakota

About Theater Dakota

Dakota is one of the eight culture anchors in The Hague. Every district has a Culture Anchor, such as a library, museum or theatre. There are eight places in The Hague where art and culture is offered to everyone. At Dakota we try to introduce different audiences – for whom it is not obvious to come into contact with art and culture – in an accessible way in these culture anchors.

Dakota is located in the middle of the largest part of The Hague: Escamp. There is plenty to do in and around our theater and cinema. You can go to a theater performance, visit a movie or even follow workshops and classes in our ArtLabs. But because the world around us is changing, we are increasingly trying to shape our theater and cinema together with our environment.

By entering into discussions in various ways with certain social or cultural population groups from Escamp and by listening carefully to what is needed, we try to make the public part of what they want to see and experience in Dakota. With a team of about 20 professionals, more than 40 volunteers and countless ambassadors, we turn these questions into a program together with the groups. Together we ensure that every day Dakota is a place where everyone feels welcome and heard.
