About Theater en Filmhuis Dakota

Dakota is one of eight cultural anchors in The Hague. Each district has a Cultural Anchor, such as a library, museum, or theater. This means there are eight places in The Hague where art and culture are offered to everyone. At Dakota, we try to introduce various audiences—for whom encountering art and culture isn't a given—in an accessible way through these cultural anchors. Dakota is located in the heart of The Hague's largest district: Escamp. There's plenty to do in and around our theater and cinema. You can attend a theater performance, see a movie, or even take workshops and classes in our ArtLabs. But because the world around us is changing, we're increasingly trying to shape our theater and cinema together with our surroundings. By engaging in various dialogues with specific social or cultural groups in Escamp and listening carefully to their needs, we try to involve the audience in what they want to see and experience at Dakota. With a team of approximately 20 professionals, over 40 volunteers, and countless ambassadors, we work with the groups to translate these questions into a program. Together, we ensure that Dakota is a place where everyone feels welcome and heard every day.
