About Fair Tourism
Fair Tourism is a Dutch non-profit organization (est. 1989) committed to promoting sustainable, community-based tourism (CBT). We work to ensure Indigenous communities are not treated as tourist attractions, but empowered as leaders in shaping their own tourism initiatives.
We develop capacity-building programs, collaborate with universities, and currently run projects in Thailand, Indonesia, and Kenya. Since 2025, we have also been a proud member of The Hague Humanity Hub.

Content Strategist (Volunteer Role)
Fair Tourism is seeking a Content Strategist to define and guide our brand, ensuring our messaging reflects our mission while connecting projects, partnerships, and fundraising efforts into a clear and compelling narrative.
🕓 Commitment: 10–15 hours per week (flexible)
📍 Location: The Hague, Netherlands (Hybrid / Remote)

Key Responsibilities:
As the Content Strategist, you will play a key role in shaping Fair Tourism's voice and storytelling across all communication channels. Your responsibilities will include:
- Write newsletter, website copy, email campaigns, and social media captions
- Conduct research to ensure accuracy and relevance
- Basic graphic design skills
- Optimize content for SEO
- Edit and proofread content before publication
- Collaborate with marketing and design teams
- Collaborate with Social Media Specialist and visual content creation to ensure alignment with written content
- Maintain brand tone and messaging consistency
- Repurpose content for different platforms
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field, with 1+ years of experience in content creation or content strategy.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to create engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Understanding of content strategy, SEO, and maintaining a consistent brand voice across multiple platforms.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, mission-driven, and remote environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience creating content for websites, blogs, newsletters, email campaigns, and social media.
- Experience working in nonprofit, sustainability, tourism, or other impact-driven organizations.
- Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress), Canva, or other content management and design tools.
- Experience collaborating with marketing, fundraising, and cross-functional teams.
