About Fair Tourism
Fair Tourism is a Dutch non-profit organization (est. 1989) committed to promoting sustainable, community-based tourism (CBT). We work to ensure Indigenous communities are not treated as tourist attractions, but empowered as leaders in shaping their own tourism initiatives.
We develop capacity-building programs, collaborate with universities, and currently run projects in Thailand, Indonesia, and Kenya. Since 2025, we have also been a proud member of The Hague Humanity Hub.

Marketing Lead (Volunteer Role)
Fair Tourism is seeking a Marketing Lead to define and guide our brand, ensuring our messaging reflects our mission while connecting projects, partnerships, and fundraising efforts into a clear and compelling narrative.
🕓 Commitment: 10–15 hours per week (flexible)
📍 Location: The Hague, Netherlands (Hybrid / Remote)

⭐ Key Responsibilities
As the Marketing Lead, you will play a strategic role in shaping how Fair Tourism is perceived and communicated externally. You will guide the Marketing team while ensuring alignment across Projects. Your tasks will include:
- Act as a strategic bridge between Projects, Fundraising, and Marketing to ensure consistent communication
- Define Fair Tourism’s brand positioning
- Manage social media and storytelling
- Ensure messaging reflects regenerative tourism, CBT, and organizational values
- Manage updated document with marketing guidelines (logos, brand colours, wording, coding)
- Translate organizational strategy into marketing direction
- Maintain clarity in how FT is perceived externally
- Inform the Marketing team’s efforts with strategic inputs from Fundraising and Projects departments
- Support Marketing team with content creation and planning when related to partnerships and fundraising
- Review the Marketing/Content calendars, enforce deadlines, and support role assignment and accountability
- Set ethical communication guidelines
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field
- 1+ years of experience in marketing, branding, or communications (preferably in nonprofit or impact-driven sectors)
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into clear marketing direction
- Experience in brand development, positioning, and storytelling
- Effective communication and stakeholder alignment across teams
- Solid organizational and project management skills (planning, timelines, coordination)
- Understanding of ethical, values-driven communication
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-driven, volunteer environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience in sustainable tourism, social impact, or environmental organizations
- Experience managing or mentoring marketing/content teams
- Familiarity with fundraising communication and partnership-driven marketing
- Experience working with remote or cross-functional teams
