Turkish speaking companion wanted for woman with 2 year old child

We're looking for a companion for a woman from a women's shelter who's from Turkey. Her social network in the Netherlands is very small, and she doesn't speak Dutch yet. Would you like to spend time with her to help her break out of her isolation? Then we'd love to get in touch!

The Salvation Army is looking for people willing to offer support to people in The Hague who have experienced domestic violence. It's a devastating experience that leaves deep scars. Even when it's safe again, it can take a long time for someone to feel like themselves again and participate in society.

This buddy project has been set up especially for them.

We're looking for people who want to be a buddy to help break through isolation and build self-confidence and future prospects. It's about friendly contact, doing fun things together, and offering a listening ear. Where needed, you'll offer practical help and support and help your buddy get over the threshold by, for example, accompanying them to the library or a community center.

Are you:

• Do you live in the area of The Hague?
• Available for at least a year for approximately 2 hours per week?
• Someone with a big heart for vulnerable people?
• Socially skilled and patient?
• Realistic and reliable?
• You respect the objectives of the Salvation Army Welfare and Health Care Foundation.

As a volunteer you will receive training and personal guidance.

There are also four intervision meetings per year where you can meet your fellow volunteers and exchange experiences.

You are willing to participate in the training and intervision.
