Summary

Every year, approximately 100 enthusiastic volunteers sign up to support the Movies that Matter Festival team in various positions.

Detailed description

Every year, around 100 enthusiastic volunteers sign up to support the Movies that Matter team. To organise the festival, with thousands of visitors and dozens of guests from abroad, volunteers are indispensable. This year too, we are looking for people who can help us, in the run-up to, during and after the festival. Sign up now via the application form on our website.

The festival in 2023

The festival will take place from 24 March to 1 April at Theater aan het Spui and Filmhuis Den Haag. This year's Movies that Matter Festival presents more than eighty beautiful, exciting and moving feature films and documentaries, and there are numerous inspiring talks, performances and Q&As. And like every edition, several directors, activists, thinkers and experts will be present at the festival.

For the preparations and running of the festival, we are looking for helping hands.

What do we ask of you?

We are looking for enthusiastic, proactive people who like to roll up their sleeves. Affinity with film and festivals and experience with volunteering is a plus. You are often the first point of contact for our visitors. Therefore, we are looking for people who are hospitable and friendly.

When you sign up, we ask you to work at least four shifts. The shifts will start in Amsterdam during preparations at the head office from Wednesday 8 March. However, we need the most volunteers in the run-up to and during the festival, which is from Wednesday 22 March to Sunday 2 April.

Furthermore, we find it of course especially important that you enjoy your work. We have various tasks to be fulfilled and you can choose which position suits you best. Take a look at all available volunteer roles.

What can we offer you?

As a volunteer, you will be closely involved in the organisation and gain insight into the ins and outs of this unique and special festival. At times when you are not at work, you can use your crew pass to attend the live screenings at Theater aan het Spui and Filmhuis Den Haag when there is enough space.

You will also receive a Movies that Matter T-shirt and your travel expenses will be reimbursed up to €15 per shift. Travel expenses will only be reimbursed if they are claimed with an NS-ticket or OV-chipcard statement. You are responsible for any accommodation during the festival. Naturally, we will provide food and drinks during your shift.

For the agenda

On Tuesday 14 March, we will organise an information meeting for volunteers from 17.00 – 18.30 in Theater aan het Spui in The Hague. We would like everyone to attend. You will receive a lot of information about the festival and it is the time to get to know each other and the MtMF23 team.

Are you excited and want to be part of this unique festival? Then sign up now by filling in the application form on the Movies that Matter website. Make sure you have a digital passport photo ready when you do so.
