Are you practically minded, do you like to roll up your sleeves, and do you want to make a difference for others? Join our flex group!
Are you practically minded, do you like to get things done, and do you find it satisfying to see what you have achieved at the end of the day? Then we are looking for you!
Together with other volunteers, you help with all kinds of practical jobs in people's homes in The Hague. One moment you might be tidying up a garden, the next you might be painting or helping to clear out a house. No day is the same, and every job brings new challenges.
Are you an experienced handyman? Great! But perhaps you are primarily someone who is handy, eager to learn, and not afraid to get their hands dirty. In that case, you are welcome too.
What kind of jobs can you expect?
As a flexible volunteer, you can, for example, help with:
- Tidying up an overgrown garden for an elderly person who can no longer do it themselves
- Painting a house or laying a floor for a single mother who has just received a home from a shelter.
- Tidying up or cleaning a home for a family that is feeling overwhelmed.
- Small repairs and practical jobs in and around the house, such as hanging something or assembling furniture.
The projects are different every time. That is precisely what makes the flex group so fun and diverse!
How does it work?
A few times a year, every month, or regularly: you decide what suits you. You can see an overview of the jobs via the Present Den Haag App. You choose which projects you participate in and how often you want to help. So you are not tied to a fixed schedule. Do you see a job that suits you? Then sign up!
Who are you doing this for?
You help people who are unable to carry out certain tasks themselves due to their age, health, or personal circumstances. They often lack a social network or the financial means to hire help.
With a few hours of your time, you can ensure that someone has a neat garden again, a tidy house, or simply experiences a little more space and peace.
Tackling it together
You always work together with other volunteers. An experienced group leader is present at every project to supervise the task. So you don't have to be able to do everything yourself. Maybe you are good with a paintbrush, someone else with pruning shears, and yet another with lifting and carrying. Together, we get the job done.
Materials are arranged through the relevant care provider where necessary.
Who are we looking for?
Someone who
- is practically minded and knows how to get things done;
- enjoys working together;
- is physically capable of doing practical tasks;
- treats residents, their homes, and living environments with respect;
Experience with, for example, gardening, painting, or odd jobs is a plus, but not a requirement.
Do you have a driver's license? That's handy, because we have a work van. But you are also very welcome without a driver's license.

Our volunteer groups consist of people from businesses, schools, churches, or groups of friends, from government agencies: anyone can sign up to work on projects with us, either one-time or multiple times.
The projects are social or practical: we undertake social activities within social organizations or carry out practical jobs, such as gardening or painting. We do this for both individuals and organizations.
You can volunteer with us to carry out projects, supervise volunteer groups, or support us in the office with project organization. Something for everyone!
