Two to three times a month, approximately 30 local residents in Houtwijk, Loosduinen, eat a three-course meal. For a small fee, they eat a healthy meal together.
A small team of volunteers dedicates itself approximately three times a month to preparing a healthy meal for (lonely) residents of the neighborhood.
For 5 euros, local residents enjoy a three-course meal. The community table is not a neighborhood restaurant, but a shared dining experience where attendees connect, share stories, and eat a healthy meal.
For not everyone present is this an everyday occurrence.
The volunteers prepare the meal in the afternoon. This often consists of an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert.
Attendees are welcomed upon arrival. The evening begins with a word of welcome. A (festive) activity is organized quarterly, such as bingo or a music night.
Help wanted in the kitchen
We are looking for help in the kitchen.
- You help with the preparation of the cooking.
- You help serve the food.
- You help with the dishes and loading the dishwasher.
- If motivated, it is also possible to organize a dinner evening yourself. This relieves the current volunteers.

About Wijkz Loosduinen, Houtwijk
Wijkz is active in the seven districts of The Hague, where we work together with residents to create a liveable city.
Wijkz employs an ‘area-based approach’. This means that our youth and community workers go out into the neighborhoods from the community centers to get to know the residents. Our people are the ears and eyes of the neighborhood and bridge the gap between residents and local authorities.
The home base, the community center
The community center is also the home base. It is a place where activities for children and young people take place and where volunteers are active. It is the place where you can organize activities for the neighborhood together with other residents. Just drop by and discover all the things you can do in your neighborhood.
