Summary
EnergieKas is looking for someone with technical knowledge to help us think about electrical systems, maintenance, and sustainable solutions for our roof.
Detailed description
EnergieKas has been open for less than six months and is growing rapidly. More and more projects, installations, and experiments are emerging on our roof, requiring technical knowledge and insight. That's why we're looking for someone to contribute ideas and help us further develop our energy in the greenhouse.
Do you have a few hours a week to spare and enjoy using your knowledge and skills to contribute to a place where art, climate, and science converge? Then we could really use you!
We already have a basic electrical system installed, but we'd like to take a more professional approach. A few moments with someone with experience could be incredibly helpful: a quick look, some input on a plan, and advice on how to make it future-proof. We'd also like to apply for a subsidy for this, and your expertise could help us substantiate that.
In addition, there is plenty of room to think about other technical or sustainable experiments!
We are looking for someone with technical or electrical engineering experience who enjoys sharing knowledge in a creative, inspiring, and sustainable environment.
What you take for granted can make a world of difference to us!
EnergieKas is a cultural and experimental testing ground where art, climate, and society converge. As a volunteer, you'll be part of a broad community of doers, makers, and local residents who are working together to transform the city and society. Your contribution ensures that all that energy continues to flow smoothly, even behind the scenes.
Will you help us improve and allow the energy in EnergieKas to flow?
About EnergieKas
EnergieKas is a cultural test site offering space for imagination, experimentation, and encounters at the intersection of art, climate, and science. In and around a greenhouse on an urban rooftop, new ways of seeing, growing, creating, building, and living are explored together. EnergieKas consists of a 120 m² greenhouse on a 2,000 m² roof in the Old City Center of The Hague. EnergieKas offers space for hands-on experiments and programs.
We are facing a major transition in our city and society. To shape this, imagination and a cultural shift are needed. EnergieKas offers artists, designers, and makers a space for hands-on experiments, programs, knowledge sharing, and connections at the intersection of design, climate, and science. This allows us to invent, test, and even experience futures together. What could a different city and society look like?
We pose questions such as: How and what can you grow on a rooftop? How can we store our own heat or ferment seasonal vegetables? And what do you get when you cross such knowledge? A solar hot tub on the roof? A mushroom garden where inks are grown for printing? A circular food silo converted into a hotel room? Lamps made from meat waste? A place where you can pay by hours instead of money?
We believe in cross-pollination between roles and disciplines. With us, the chef, politician, builder, neighbor, civil servant, and artist sit at the same table. We see food as a unifying factor across cultures, functions, social status, and sectors. We also believe that more trust and space are needed for 'the commons,' instead of simply handing matters over to the government and the market.
We invite people with courage, imagination, and drive to inspire and involve each other and others in the transformation of cities and society.
EnergieKas is a non-profit, bottom-up project for and by transition makers. Will you join us?
