At De BuurtBand, everyone is welcome ! Regardless of age, musical experience, or background. Whether you’re an experienced guitarist or have never played a note

Fort van de Verbeelding is the national initiator behind the BuurtBand project.

Through music, the BuurtBand aims to bring people closer together, help them out of isolation, empower them, and create meaningful connections.

In today’s society, the distance between people of different ages and backgrounds is growing. BuurtBand works to counter this by making music together weekly in an accessible and welcoming way.

There are simple instruments and songs for those with little or no musical experience, while experienced musicians are just as welcome.

At BuurtBand, everyone participates!

As a volunteer, you support the project and of course join in making music yourself.

Your tasks may include setting up rehearsals and instruments, preparing coffee and tea, and helping with various activities when the BuurtBand performs.

In The Hague, there are currently two BuurtBands:

  • Every Tuesday afternoon at Buurthuis Waldeck in Loosduinen, from 15:00 to 16:00
  • Every Wednesday evening at the Shalomkerk, from 19:00 to 20:30

About Fort van de Verbeelding

Fort van de Verbeelding houdt even veel van mensen als van muziek. Muziek is een prachtig middel om mensen samen iets te laten beleven. Muziek genereert emotie. Muziek bindt. Fort van de Verbeelding maakt met laagdrempelige zelfontworpen Fort-instrumenten orkesten met een eigen identiteit. Iedereen doet mee. Zij die nooit muziek maken, muziekamateurs en profs. Dat alles komt samen in buurtcentra, op schoolpleinen en op ouderen-locaties in het land.
