Volunteering as a Pathway to Employment in The Netherlands

by Sarah Feid, Account Manager at The Hague International Centre

Navigating the Dutch job market can feel daunting, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. In this workshop, Sarah shares her journey from international student to professional at a Dutch company. She will offer a candid look at Dutch work culture, Dutch CV writing and inform you about which industries are most welcoming to international talent.

Along the way, she’ll reveal how volunteering played an essential role in her job search in The Netherlands. In addition to giving back to society, it became a powerful way to expand her professional network, gain new skills and stand out from other candidates.

You’ll leave with practical insights on how to apply for jobs and inspiration to use volunteering as a stepping stone toward your own career opportunities in the Netherlands.

This workshop is part of the Mix & Match Volunteer Job Fair held on November 29, 2025 alongside more workshops such as "The Inspired Fundraiser: Improve your Confidence, Storytelling and Connection by Dawn Heuff, "Your Voice Matters: Be Heard, Be Active, Belong" with Randy Heuschen and "Rethinking Resolutions: Setting Intentions for a Meaningful New Year" by Vassia Sarantopoulou. While event registration is not mandatory, we would greatly appreciate it if you could take a moment to secure your spot. Your registration not only helps us plan better but also ensures we can provide you with the best possible experience. Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to welcoming you to the Mix & Match Volunteer Job Fair!
