Join our vibrant community and find your place in our garden, where creativity blooms and you can work alongside both plants and people!
At Den Haag Wereldhuis, the whole world comes together. Each year, we assist more than 1,000 people from 65 different nationalities. These are individuals living and working in the Netherlands without documents, but with rights. We support them in exercising those rights and work together as a community of 70 volunteers and 5 professionals. Every week, we offer consultation hours, activities, and hearty meals where everyone is welcome. Behind our Wereldhuis is a wonderful outdoor space that we aim to transform into a vegetable garden, orchard, and peaceful sanctuary for our visitors and volunteers.
Would you like to help us create this community garden? We need assistance with just one or more of the following tasks:
- Develop a gardening plan and layout for our outdoor area
- Identify the tools, plants, and activities needed to implement the plan
- Remove tiles
- Purchase plants and soil
- Plant and arrange the garden
- Crowdfund for garden furniture and a barbecue
- Create a sowing and planting calendar for our vegetable garden in consultation with our kitchen team
- Sow and nurture seedlings
- Weed the garden
- Enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of Den Haag Wereldhuis!
Who Are You?
- Open-minded and eager to meet new people
- Strong in planning and/or design, or enjoy working with your hands
- Passionate about both people and plants

At Wereldhuis they can receive advice and support in various areas. We help them to utilize the rights they do have. Undocumented migrants are often in an isolated position. To break this isolation, Wereldhuis organizes various activities.
