Summary

💛 Every year, around 100 amazing volunteers help make the Movies that Matter Festival possible! Will you join us this year?

Detailed description

Every year, around 100 enthusiastic volunteers sign up to support the Movies that Matter team. To organise the festival, with thousands of visitors and dozens of guests from abroad, volunteers are indispensable. This year too, we are looking for people who can help us, in the run-up to, during and after the festival.

🎬 The festival in 2024

The festival will take place from 22 to 30 March at Theater aan het Spui and Filmhuis Den Haag. This year, we will present more than ninety feature films, documentaries and shorts, and there will be numerous inspiring talks, performances and Q&As with directors, activists and experts. For the preparations and running of the festival, we are looking for helping hands.

🎞️ What do we ask of you?

We are looking for enthusiastic, proactive people who like to roll up their sleeves. Affinity with film and festivals and experience with volunteering is a plus. You are often the first point of contact for our visitors. Therefore, we are looking for people who are hospitable and friendly.

When you sign up, we ask you to work at least four shifts. The start and end times of a shift may vary and depend on the position you apply for. A day shift generally starts between 09:00-11:00 and an afternoon/evening shift between 16:00-18:00. A shift lasts around 6 hours per day.

Furthermore, we find it of course especially important that you enjoy your work. We have various tasks to be fulfilled and you can choose which position suits you best. This way, you will make the festival a success together with the Movies that Matter team. Take a look at all available volunteer roles.

📽️ What can we offer you?

As a volunteer, you will be closely involved in the organisation and gain insight into the ins and outs of this unique and special festival. At times when you are not at work, you can use your crew pass to attend the screenings at Theater aan het Spui and Filmhuis Den Haag when there is enough space.

You will also receive a Movies that Matter T-shirt and your travel expenses will be reimbursed up to €15 per shift. Travel expenses will only be reimbursed if they are claimed with an NS-ticket or OV-chipcard statement. You are responsible for any accommodation during the festival. Naturally, we will provide food and drinks during your shift.

📅 For the agenda

On Tuesday 12 March, we are organising an information meeting for volunteers 17:00 – 18:30 at Theater aan het Spui in The Hague. We would like everyone to attend. You will receive lots of information about the festival and it is the time to get to know each other and the MtMF24 team.

Do you want to be part of this unique festival? Then sign up now by directly filling in the application form on the Movies that Matter website. Make sure you have a digital passport photo ready when you do so.

About Movies that Matter

Movies that Matter opens eyes for human rights by film. Moving feature films and revealing documentaries that hold up a mirror to us. Films that start conversations about how we can promote peace and fight injustice. We screen these films in schools, at the annual festival in The Hague and On Tour in film theaters throughout The Netherlands. We also support human rights film screenings abroad.
