Are you passionate about building strong, connected teams? Do you believe that a thriving volunteer community is the foundation for real impact? Then read on!

At Advocates Who Thrive (AWT), we’re building a movement—one that supports changemakers and advocates in making a real difference. And none of that is possible without an engaged, motivated team behind the scenes. As our HR Coordinator, you will play a key role in shaping the team culture, strengthening personal connections, and ensuring that every volunteer feels valued and empowered.

You’ll be at the heart of our team, creating an environment where people love to contribute, feel supported, and grow together. Through thoughtful recruitment, inspiring team moments, and strong internal communication, you’ll help build a team that is not just committed to the cause—but also to each other.

Tasks:

  • Grow our team with the right people – recruit and onboard passionate, committed volunteers who align with our mission and ensure they get the best possible start.
  • Shape our team culture – Keep people engaged and inspired by organizing meaningful team-building moments, stimulating connection in our WhatsApp group, and ensuring volunteers feel recognized and appreciated.
  • Lead our monthly team meetings – Organize and host engaging, inspiring gatherings that keep the energy high and ensure that volunteers feel part of something bigger.
  • Support wellbeing & resolve challenges – Act as the go-to person for team concerns, helping prevent and resolve conflicts in a way that strengthens trust and collaboration.
  • Keep things running smoothly – Handle basic HR administration, ensuring that volunteer agreements, onboarding info, and internal communication are well-structured and easy to navigate.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for community-building – You love bringing people together, making connections, and creating an inspiring team environment.
  • Strong organizational & communication skills – You can structure things well, while also being approachable, clear, and fair.
  • People-focused – You love finding ways to motivate and empower others.
  • Experience in HR, recruitment, or community management is a plus, but not required.

Even though the role is remote, we're looking for someone who is based in the area of Den Haag or otherwise able and willing to travel to attend our cozy team meetings that take place on a monthly basis (each 2nd Saturday of the month). We're also looking for someone with longer-term commitment to the role and AWT (>1 yr).

Note: This role can be adjusted based on your strengths and interests.

About Advocates Who Thrive

At Advocates Who Thrive we empower current or aspiring advocates to become more influential in their fight for social and environmental justice.

We do so by offering them training and coaching opportunities that build their confidence, capacity and competences to speak up, lobby & campaign for the environment, animal rights, human rights and inclusion.

In order to successfully address these urgent societal challenges, we need all kinds of angles and viewpoints to be on board. That’s where our main activities – the intensive, multi-day training courses that we organize – come in. Where international youth from all kinds of backgrounds come together. The training setup in combination with their passion and collective drive allows them to fully focus on the topic and on each other. As a result, participants develop themselves and each other in ways they never imagined before.

Fully in line with these values, in our organization we welcome and involve youth from all walks of life. No matter their background, religion, education, ethnicity, gender identity, or sexual orientation, everyone is welcome to join!
