Summary
Assistance is needed on Pompstationsweg at 7:00 in the morning.
Detailed description
A 400-meter-long barrier will be dug into the ground on Pompstationsweg. Toads, frogs, and salamanders will encounter this barrier as they cross the busy Pompstationsweg on their way to the water where they were born and breed.
They can't jump over the screen and continue following it, falling into buried buckets. These buckets must be emptied and counted twice a day, including in the morning (7:00 a.m.) on the other side of the road.

About De Dierenbescherming
One of the most important goals of the Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals is to prevent animal suffering, so that we need to rescue fewer animals in the long run. Our "social animal assistance" department therefore focuses – as the name suggests – on social tasks and services.
We are there not only for animals, but also for people. At the societal level, we offer support programs for pet owners who experience problems caring for their animals. And if care providers and service providers encounter animal welfare issues, they can contact our Helpdesk for Caregivers. Furthermore, through our Animal Buddy project, we support the elderly and chronically ill in caring for their pets. This way, animals and people can stay together.
Another example of our preventative work is the annual toad migration campaign. Our volunteers help toads safely cross the road after hibernation.
