Summary

Every year, approximately 100 enthusiastic volunteers sign up to support the Movies that Matter Festival team in various positions.

Detailed description

Our volunteers are indispensable for the organisation of the festival, with about 17.000 visitors and dozens of guests from abroad. This year we are once again looking for people who can help us before, during and after the festival. Applications are now closed.

The 2022 edition of the festival

After two online editions of the festival, we are very happy that we can go back into cinemas again this year! The festival will take place from 8 to 16 April in Pathé Buitenhof and Filmhuis Den Haag. In addition, a selection of films will also be made available online via video on demand. The Industry screenings will start a day earlier on 7 April and will partially take place online. We are looking for volunteers in the run-up to and during the offline screenings as well as for the online version of the festival.

What do we ask of you?

We are looking for enthusiastic, proactive people who are happy to roll up their sleeves. Affinity with film and festivals as well as experience with volunteering is a plus. You are the face of the festival and often the first point of contact for our visitors. It is important that you are representative, hospitable and service-oriented.

When you sign up, we ask you to work at least four shifts.

The shifts will start in Amsterdam during the festival preparations at the Movies that Matter office from Wednesday 23 March onwards. But mostly we need volunteers in The Hague before and during the festival from Wednesday 6 April – Sunday 17 April.

Above all, it is of course especially important to us that you enjoy your work. We have various volunteer positions from which you can choose which one suits you best so that you can make the festival a success together with the Movies that Matter team.

What can we offer you?

As a volunteer you are closely involved in the organisation and you gain insight into the ins and outs of this unique and special festival. When you are not working, you can attend the screenings in Pathé Buitenhof and Filmhuis Den Haag with your crew pass if there are still seats left.

You will also receive a Movies that Matter T-shirt and your travel costs up to a maximum of € 15,- per shift will be reimbursed. Travel costs are only reimbursed when they are claimed with an NS ticket or OV-chipkaart overview. You are responsible for any accommodation during the festival. Of course, we will provide food and drinks.

About Movies that Matter

Movies that Matter opens eyes for human rights by film. Moving feature films and revealing documentaries that hold up a mirror to us. Films that start conversations about how we can promote peace and fight injustice. We screen these films in schools, at the annual festival in The Hague and On Tour in film theaters throughout The Netherlands. We also support human rights film screenings abroad.
