Summary

Become part of a student committee at Move and lead the Move your neighborhood project at an elementary school in The Hague!

Detailed description

The Move Foundation is committed to equal opportunities for children aged 9-16. We do this by organising projects in which children, with the help of students, take action for their own neighbourhood.

During Move je buurt (Move your neighbourhood), children and students are given the ownership and responsibility to devise and implement a project. The project consists of two parts: an excursion into student life and a neighbourhood project. During the excursion, the students take the pupils on a day trip to the university or college. The children are introduced to new sports, studies, talents and opportunities. In the neighbourhood project, the children brainstorm with the help of the students about what could be improved in the neighbourhood. They then carry out their plan together. They learn social entrepreneurship, develop their talents and can look back with pride on a concrete result.

What does the project involve?

  • You will be part of a project team of 3-5 volunteers;
  • Together with the children, you will complete 7 lessons of 2 hours each;
  • Each volunteer has their own role within the project (e.g. communication, resources or lesson plans);
  • Weekly meetings with the team;
  • Time commitment of 4 hours per week;
  • Support from a project coordinator.

What do we expect from you?

  • You enjoy working with children and motivating them;
  • You enjoy standing in front of a class from time to time;
  • You are communicative, take initiative and take responsibility;
  • You can work well both in a team and independently;
  • You are enthusiastic about Move and our mission!

About Stichting Move

Move is committed to children and young people aged 10 to 16 who have fewer opportunities than their peers. In our social projects, they discover their talents and the valuable position they can take in society.

In all our projects, connections are central: children, young people and students discover each other's worlds and broaden their perspective. Bubbles break and the distance between people decreases. Move connects and broadens perspectives!
